πŸ“‹ Task Kanban

A drag-and-drop board that shows every task status at a glance, synced live with your Gantt chart.

πŸ“Œ What is the task kanban

The task kanban is a visual way to manage work: tasks are split into columns by status (To do, In progress, Done) and you change a task's status by dragging its card. It works like the board views in Trello or Jira.

In Task Nexus the kanban shares its data with the Gantt chart. Drag a card to a new status and the colour and position of that task update in the Gantt chart automatically.

πŸš€ How to use the task kanban

Switch to the kanban view

1
Open the Gantt chart

Open the Task Nexus Gantt panel from the Obsidian sidebar.

2
Click the kanban button

Find the "πŸ“‹ Kanban" button in the toolbar and click it to switch to the kanban view.

3
Read the task cards

The board groups tasks into three columns: To do (not started), In progress and Done. Every task is shown as one card.

πŸ’‘ Tip: You can switch between the kanban view and the Gantt chart at any time β€” the data is fully in sync.

πŸ”„ Drag to change task status

In the kanban view you change a task's status simply by dragging its card:

1
Find the card you want to move

Locate the task in its current column.

2
Drag it to the target column

Hold down the left mouse button and drag the card to the column for the new status (for example, from To do to In progress).

3
Release the mouse button

The task status updates instantly, and the matching entry in your Markdown note is rewritten too.

πŸ” Filters and grouping

The board can filter and group tasks along several dimensions:

Filter by owner

1
Click the filter button

Find the "Filter" button at the top of the board.

2
Pick an owner

Choose the owner you want to see from the dropdown and the board filters itself automatically.

Group by priority

Group the board by priority (high / medium / low) to find your high-priority work fast.

Filter by folder or note

Show only the tasks inside one folder, or only the tasks from a single note.

πŸƒ Card information

Every task card shows the following:

FieldDescription
Task nameThe title text from your Markdown task list
PriorityMarked with emoji (⏫ high / πŸ”Ί medium / πŸ”½ low / ⏬ lowest)
OwnerDetected from the #role/ tag
Due dateRead from the frontmatter or the task list

πŸ”— Works with the Gantt chart

The kanban and the Gantt chart share exactly the same data:
